Kimberlea Kressal

Kim grew up on a dirt road in Florida (think gators, grifters, and above-ground pools) and enjoys writing what she describes as “Florida Noir'' - brightly lit dramas rooted in moral ambiguity. Kim comes to television and film following a twenty-year career in New York as a playwright and theatre director. For ten years, she was the Resident Director for the theatre company Wreckio Ensemble. Kim is the writer and librettist of the hit off-Broadway musical Lesbian Love Octagon which was optioned for television by DiGa Studios.

 

Now an LA-based TV writer, she sold her semi-autobiographical queer dramedy, Stealth, to UCP. She has developed projects with Gavin Polone/Pariah, Automatik, MGM-Orion, and Escape Artists. Currently, she is developing her original series Worth, inspired by her family’s century of domestic service on the affluent island of Palm Beach, with
Danny Rose Media/Dynamic Television and a family crime drama set in a maraschino cherry factory with Milojo/ABC Signature. Kim is also writing, directing, and producing her audio fiction series, Not For Nothin’: a Staten Island crime, about a small postage stamp theft that unearths a large criminal enterprise.

A queer activist and artist, Kimberlea has twice been named one of Go Magazine’s “100 Women We Love.” She is the co-host of the podcast “Queer for the Right Reasons: Lesbian Reflections on Bachelor Nation.” She is the Founder/Producer of Tisch Represents, a community of NYU Tisch School of the Arts alumni elevating underrepresented voices in television and film. Kim received her BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. She is represented by LIT Entertainment Group.
